Grok Pricing and Plans: Should SuperGrok or Heavy Users Switch?

Choose a new plan by usage. SuperGrok users paying the same price can consider Premium if they need Cursor or X Premium+. Check legacy discounts, third-party model allowances and Heavy-specific benefits before switching.

Contents

Existing SuperGrok and SuperGrok Heavy subscribers can currently keep their plans. Switching is optional. New customers choose Free, Plus, Premium, Super or Ultra. For existing users, the decision depends on useful new benefits, total cost and whether the available features and usage meet their needs.

xAI launched The X Subscription on October 12, 2026, bringing Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X benefits into one subscription.

Facts checked: October 13, 2026. USD list prices are provided for reference and exclude applicable taxes and fees. Your checkout determines the final price, promotions and purchase options. Switching is rolling out gradually; a missing migration option does not invalidate your existing subscription.

1. What the new subscription includes

The official overview describes one workspace and bill for Grok and Cursor, with a shared weekly allowance for Grok model usage. Connecting a personal X account activates the X benefits of your chosen tier.

Premium belongs to this unified subscription system. Super should not be assumed to be a rename of SuperGrok. Compare prices, features and usage allowances before choosing.

2. Grok monthly and annual prices

These figures come from the official pricing documentation. Monthly equivalents divide annual prices by 12; annual plans are paid yearly.

PlanMonthly billingAnnual billingMonthly equivalent, paid annuallyIncluded usage relative to Plus
Free$0$0$0Limited access; no multiplier
Plus$8/month$80/yearAbout $6.67Base
Premium$30/month$300/year$254x
Super$100/month$1,000/yearAbout $83.3315x
Ultra$200/month$2,000/yearAbout $166.6750x

The pricing page positions Plus for light AI use. Premium adds the latest Grok models, faster chat responses and cloud agents. Super adds priority model access at peak times. Ultra has the largest individual allowance, but usage is still limited.

Grok Bot is included on Premium and above. It uses the same weekly allowance, with no separate additional pool. Plus does not include Grok Bot.

With a personal X account connected, Plus offers a checkmark, creator tools and fewer ads. Premium, Super and Ultra provide full X Premium+ benefits. Existing X Premium+ subscribers should choose Premium or higher to retain those features; see the X benefits guide.

Teams start at $30 per seat per month, with Premium, Super and Ultra seats that can be mixed. Teams needing centralized billing and administration should budget by seat count.

3. Weekly limits and separately billed usage

The usage guide says eligible first-party Grok and Cursor usage draws from the same weekly pool per paid seat. Different activities consume different amounts. Premium’s “4x Plus” does not translate into fixed daily counts of prompts, images or videos.

Large Cursor coding tasks leave less allowance for Grok. If you do not use Cursor, you can concentrate the allowance on Grok. Each product does not receive its own full pool.

Claude, GPT and other third-party models in Cursor are billed separately from the first use. Grok model usage beyond the included allowance also requires top-up credits. Budget for both the subscription and extra usage, and check automatic top-ups and spending caps.

On self-serve Teams plans, each seat has its own weekly pool. Seats share a prepaid balance for extra usage, not their included pools. Enterprise follows its contract.

4. What existing SuperGrok and Heavy users keep

4.1 Without switching: current plans, prices and features continue

The switching guide and overview say migration is optional. Current plans, prices and features continue unless you change or cancel your subscription.

This is general guidance for existing Grok subscriptions. There is no complete public comparison of Heavy and the new plans. Under the current retention policy, continuing an old Heavy subscription should not automatically remove its benefits because of this launch. Check account-specific discounts, bonuses and renewal arrangements against your bill and offer terms.

4.2 Future migration: no timetable, with advance notice

The launch FAQ says remaining users will eventually move to the new plans. There is no timetable, and customers will receive advance notice. Current availability is not a promise to preserve legacy plans forever.

Annual subscribers who do not voluntarily upgrade keep their paid term through its end date. Future changes would apply at renewal, with advance notice.

4.3 Switching: account unification cannot be reversed

The unification guide says switching combines eligible Grok and Cursor accounts into one account, workspace, plan and bill. Completed unification is permanent, including for support.

The cancellation guide confirms that canceling does not separate unified accounts or restore old Cursor, SuperGrok or X Premium subscriptions. If you need separate accounts or the option to return to your old subscription, do not unify them as a trial.

5. Migration refunds and duplicate billing

The billing and refunds guide says eligible direct-billed subscriptions included in the switch are canceled. Unused time is refunded proportionally on both monthly and annual plans.

The new plan starts immediately and is charged in full. Refunds go separately to the original payment method; they do not reduce the new checkout payment.

Original purchase channelWhat happens when switching
Direct web billingEligible subscriptions included in the switch are canceled; subscriptions on accounts outside it remain unchanged
Cursor through AppleCancel and request any refund through Apple yourself, or billing may continue
Grok, Grok Bot or X Premium through AppleCancellation and a refund request for unused time are handled during switching; Apple decides whether to approve the refund
Grok, Grok Bot or X Premium through Google PlayCheck Play subscriptions afterward and cancel there if renewal remains enabled

Record your old plan, actual renewal price, expiry date and extras before switching. Existing paid Cursor users should start at Cursor’s unification page. From Grok, use the xAI unification page.

Emails do not need to match, but select the correct accounts. Check carefully before combining work and personal accounts. Afterward, verify renewal status in the original payment channel and review the new workspace’s bill and usage. Access to the new plan does not prove every old subscription has stopped billing.

6. Which plan to choose, and whether to switch

These recommendations follow the pricing and benefits rules. They are not official guarantees of task counts.

6.1 New users: start monthly, then upgrade for usage

Your usageFirst choiceDecision criterion
Occasional questions; no established paid needFreeTest it with actual tasks
Light AI use; mainly want X’s checkmark and creator toolsPlusYou do not need Grok Bot
Daily Grok use, with coding agent workPremiumObserve one or two normal working weeks at $30/month
Daily coding or automation repeatedly exhausts lower tiersSuperYou have a demonstrated need for more weekly usage
Sustained heavy work exceeds SuperUltraYou can identify the need for the $200/month tier

Compare top-up costs for occasional overages. Consider upgrading when you consistently hit the limit, and choose annual billing once your ongoing usage is clear.

6.2 SuperGrok to Premium: useful new benefits at the same price

The announcement describes Premium as including SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+ benefits. If you pay $30/month for SuperGrok, your switching quote is also $30/month, and you need Grok coding in Cursor or X Premium+, consider Premium first.

That recommendation rests on useful additional benefits at the same subscription price. It does not include legacy Cursor Pro’s third-party model allowance or guarantee enough usage for heavy work in both Grok and Cursor.

If you separately subscribe to SuperGrok and X Premium+, consolidation is worth considering when the new quote is below your combined bills and your required benefits are confirmed. If you also subscribe to Cursor, include post-migration third-party model charges in the calculation.

6.3 Who should wait before switching

Your situationRecommendationWhat to confirm
Grok is sufficient; you do not need Cursor or X Premium+Keep your current plan for nowUseful new benefits or a lower price
Your SuperGrok renewal has a lower promotional priceCompare costs firstActual prices over the same billing period
Work depends on legacy Cursor allowances for Claude or GPTCalculate costs firstWhether separate model charges exceed subscription savings
You rely on Heavy-specific models, extras or discountsKeep Heavy until confirmedWhether the target plan preserves those benefits
You exhaust Grok’s allowance and plan substantial Cursor useConfirm the new allowance firstWhether one pool covers both workloads
You need separate work and personal accounts, or a return to your old planDo not unify as a trialUnification is permanent; cancellation does not restore old plans

Public information does not establish full Heavy-to-Ultra equivalence or a specific increase in task counts for Grok-only users. If either is a purchase requirement, get confirmation from official support before switching.
